Cookie Policy | Wisdom Engineers

1. What a Cookie Is

A cookie is a small file a website asks Your browser to store and send back on later requests. Some are strictly necessary: without them the site cannot serve a form safely or remember Your cookie choice. Others are optional, and We ask before setting them.

This website stores nothing in Your browser's localStorage or sessionStorage. Everything We keep on Your device is a cookie, and every one of them is listed below.

2. Strictly Necessary Cookies

These are set because the site cannot work without them. They carry no advertising or analytics purpose, so they are not covered by the consent banner.

Cookie	Purpose	Lifetime
`session`	Flask session: flash messages and the form CSRF token that proves a submission came from a page We served, blocking cross-site request forgery.	Browser session
`we_consent`	Records Your answer to the cookie banner, so We do not ask again and do not set analytics cookies You refused.	6 months

we_consent is listed here rather than under analytics on purpose: it is the record of Your choice, so it has to survive a refusal.

Our contact form, and the newsletter form when it asks You to pass an extra check, load a bot-protection widget from hCaptcha (Intuition Machines). hCaptcha then sets its own cookies to tell a person from an automated script. hCaptcha classes these as strictly necessary and consent-exempt, and does not use them to build a profile of You.

3. Analytics Cookies

Set only after You accept them in the banner. Refuse, and they are never written. Accept and later change Your mind, and choosing Reject stops Google Analytics reading or writing anything further; the _ga cookies already on Your device stay until they expire or You clear them.

Cookie	Set by	Purpose	Lifetime
`_ga`	Google Analytics 4	Assigns Your browser a random identifier so repeat visits count as one visitor rather than several.	2 years
`_ga_<container>`	Google Analytics 4	Holds the current analytics session state for Our specific property.	2 years

Both are set for wisdomengineers.ie only. This website has its own Google Analytics property, separate from any other site We run.

We use Google Analytics to answer one kind of question: where Our visitors come from and which channels bring Us customers. Nothing is measured until You accept, because Google Consent Mode holds every signal denied by default.

Google Signals and advertising personalisation are turned off: advertising storage stays denied at all times, so this data is not used to build advertising profiles. Google's privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.

4. Cookies We Do Not Set

We use no advertising cookies, no social media tracking pixels, and no third-party trackers beyond the two Google Analytics cookies above and the bot-protection check on Our forms.

Third-party services We rely on for email delivery and newsletter sign-up do not set cookies through this site.

5. Managing Your Choices

What You want	How
Change Your mind	Use the Cookie Settings link at the bottom of any page. It reopens the banner with the same two buttons.
Refuse from the start	Choose Reject the first time You see the banner. Nothing analytics-related is set.
Remove what is already stored	Clear cookies for this site in Your browser settings. You will be asked again on Your next visit.
Block everything	Every major browser can block third-party or all cookies. Blocking the strictly necessary cookies will stop Our forms working.

Refusing analytics cookies costs You nothing. No feature is withheld and no page changes. You are not asked again until Your decision expires, after six months.

6. Changes to This Policy

Cookies change when the site does. When We add or remove one, this page is updated and the version at the top changes. If a new cookie needs Your consent, the banner will ask again rather than assume Your previous answer covers it.
